Vibrant young cellist, Zhu Mu, has performed globally as a soloist and chamber musician. He has been the featured artist in countries such as China, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, and United States. Zhu Mu was the winner of the Central Conservatory of Music Cello Competition in Beijing, the 4th China National Duo Cello Competition, and prizewinner of the 2006 Bayreuther International Music Competition in Germany.

An active chamber musician, Zhu Mu not only performs traditional repertoire but is active in the contemporary music scene performing leading Chinese and Pan-Asian composers’ works. Zhu Mu has performed the works by the 2011 Pulitzer Prize winner Zhou Long, world renown composers Chen Yi, Ye Xiaogang, Daron Aric Hagen, Gilda Lyons, to name a few. He is the cellist of the Beijing New Music Ensemble and Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. frequent participant of the Beijing Modern Festival and the “211” Recording project which is a funded project by the government to promote new compositions. Zhu Mu has performe in new music concert series held in South Korea, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.

Outstanding not only in solo and chamber works, Zhu Mu takes his professionalism to the orchestral world, He has been selected as be principle cellist in concert for several orchestras such as Pacific Music Festival Orchestra in Japan, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra in Germany, China Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Berlin Hochschule für Musik Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. A frequent invited in world-class music festival orchestras. He was specifically selected by Maestro Charles Dutoit to participate in the Pacfic Music Festival in Japan for several summers; participated in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany and the Asian Youth Orchestra world tours. Zhu Mu has toured the world with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra,the Sweden Camerata Nordica, the Strait Philharmonic Orchestra, and the 2010 Asia-Paciffic Orchestra which was co-organized by the United Nations Headquarters conducted by Tan Dun and Lv Jia. He has worked under the baton of C. Eschenbach, V. Gergiev, Seiji Ozawa, C. Dutoit, K. Masur and L. Maazel etc.

In 2011, Zhu Mu was named by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission as an Emerging Oustanding Young Teacher. Currently, Zhu Mu is Member of Cello Faculty at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing,head of Cello department at the middle school of the Central Conservatory of Music. In Beijing.

Zhu Mu received his Undergraduate Degree with honors from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing in 2002, his Masters of Music (MM) from the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin in 2005, and in 2011 at Hochschule für Musik Dresden, Zhu Mu graduated from the highest degree(PhD) with honors in the German music system. Zhu Mu has also received cello pedagogy masterclass trainings held by Rostropovich, Mischa Maisky, and Bernard Greenhouse. His mentors include Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Stephan Forck, Song Tao, and Huguo Yao.
